Services offered to both Residential and Commercial  Clients are available in selected areas only, include Landscape Evaluation and Landscape Design

  • LANDSCAPE EVALUATION

Your existing landscape is an important asset to your home and your family.  It welcomes guests, offers additional space for living and play, and gives privacy and security when needed.

Your commercial site, whether an office building, retail or service organization, or a residential community with welcome areas and public spaces, needs to welcome visitors and/or potential clients, and should be an asset rather than a liability.

Is it time for a complete makeover, or do you just have problem areas which don't seem to fit in?  Would you like a better understanding of your existing plants and how best to care for them?  How to improve their health and appearance, keep them free from damaging pests and diseases, or make selective changes?  Are you a new resident in an older home, struggling to make sense of an overgrown landscape?  For all of these situations and more, I am happy and qualified to help.

During our Walk-Through Session, of up to 2 Hours, I Will:

1 - Summarize key assets and liabilities for each area within your landscape

2 - Touch on care and requirements for specific plantings, and discuss problem conditions and their possible prevention or treatment

3 - Make verbal and written suggestions for design or site improvements, removals and demolition, new plant material, products, suppliers and contractors as needed.

4 - Make occasional field sketches of suggested plantings or improvements - these are field sketches only and do not constitute a full landscape design

5 - Provide a digital photographic record of our visit in CD form, to follow by mail.

I WILL BE CANDID, SO BE PREPARED.  You are not paying for someone to gloss over your landscape's problems or coddle and praise you for your past mistakes.

Remember, these are suggestions only, and how you act upon them is your choice.

The notes and field sketches from our walk through are composed ad-hoc and will typically be supplied to you in handwritten form.  If you wish for the notes and sketches to be sent electronically, there will be an additional charge of $50, as well as possible wait time based upon the current schedule.

          Landscape Design

Are You Ready for the Next Step?

I accept a limited number of selected clients for Residential and Commercial Landscape Design.   Beyond the occasional field sketch I make during a consultation, a  Landscape Design is a scale drawing of all proposed landscape changes, and takes into account the removal and addition of plant materials, soft and hard materials, grading, lighting, irrigation and other components in the context of your existing home or site, and landscape.  Your  unique style and setting, as well as your own needs and tastes, your site's topography and microclimates, and specific community preferences or requirements are all taken into consideration so that a personal and lasting composition of unique outdoor beauty can be yours.

Residential and Commercial Landscape Design.

1 - Required in advance would be a certified copy of your home's or site's plat of survey, grading plan, and other related documents.

2 - Designs can be tailored for the do-it-yourself installer, or for hand-off to a reputable landscape construction contractor, or for a combination of both.

3 - If we have already met for an initial Landscape Evaluation, the price of the Evaluation is credited against the final price of the Design IF the design is commissioned and balance paid within 6 calendar months of the evaluation.

4 - Price of design is a flat rate based upon the portion of the home or site involved - and would either be a complete design, or one primary and one secondary view (front and a side, or rear and a side).

5 - The price includes one revision after our initial meeting, and black line copes of the final design, to scale.

6 - All designs including all related drafts, notes and plant lists are © Copyright GardenOpus/Robert F. Gabella - all rights reserved, and with the express written consent of Garden Opus/Robert F. Gabella, may be reproduced in whole or in part, for the purposes of bid solicitation, RFP, installation management, etc. by photocopying, scanning, photographing, or other mechanical or manual means.

If not paid for in full by the Client, the designs including all related drafts, notes and plant lists remain the property of GardenOpus/Robert F. Gabella and may not be transferred to or exchanged to unauthorized parties without the express written consent of GardenOpus/Robert F. Gabella.   Any such transfer, exchange or installation of unpaid design concepts or materials constitutes unauthorized use and will be subject to applicable penalties under current law.

8 - The Client may also elect to choose his or her own contractor or subcontractors to execute such design plans as full landscape construction, hardscape, irrigation and lighting, or allow GardenOpus to involve reputable contractors of our own choosing as part of a complete design package in which all the components are integrated and complementary.

Additional charges for project management or contractor/subcontractor on-site or offsite coordination may apply.

Landscape Design is available year-round.  Please contact me today, and let me know how I may be of service!
